POSTPARTUM SUPPORT

Being a mother and walking through my own initiations of motherhood have changed me drastically. My outlook and perspective in so many areas of my life, not just motherhood,  has evolved and expanded and in doing so has brought me back to the most simplest of truths - “I have everything I need within me to mother my children.” This can be a hard concept and truth for us as new mothers to wrap our heads around. We live in a society and culture where so many profit from our vulnerabilities and insecurities. We are constantly being told ways to mother our children, which usually involves keeping them separate from us, that we cannot hear the voice that is within. That voice that knows the truth. My greatest service, is supporting you as you make your  transition from a maiden into the powerful mother that you already are.  This transition is not an easy one. You will be faced with new challenges. You will meet yourself in raw true form, process your birth, heal your body, create a new relationship with everything you know, all while connecting to your baby, keeping them fed and nourished, loved and held. I’m here to remind you to trust yourself and that you are the best mother for your child, I see you.

Somewhere along the line we were told a lie that “we had to do it all”. That success comes to those who can handle the most and to push forward no matter what. We have become a society that doesn’t value rest or see progress when slowing down. The postpartum period of life will show you different. For centuries many cultures saw this time as a sacred portal for new mothers and families. They even had very specific protocols for the new mothers including supporting rest, nourishing foods, loving touch, support from elders or other wise women and creating a safe space at home to allow this process of becoming to unfold.

Being welcomed into this space Is a deep honor that I hold to the highest regard. I am aware that every family is different, with different experiences, backgrounds, wishes and cultures. As I work with you I acknowledge that I am also a humble student of this moment and experience not guiding you but walking alongside you. The wisdom and healing that can be received from this sacred time is unparalleled.

You and your birth are the roadmap for the work we will do together. Although I have a list of offerings we take it day by day moment by moment and see what it is that you, your baby and your body are calling for.

My offerings are as listed but not limited to:

  • preparing nourishing foods (typically Aryuvedic for the first 14 days) ***

  • Working with plant allies to support physical and emotional healing (ie. herbal sitz baths, teas, elixers, etc)

  • Bengkun Belly Binding

  • Lactation support

  • Listening

  • Abhyanga massage & Reiki

  • Support & knowledge in safe co sleeping practices

  • Support in baby wearing

  • Support with siblings and pets

  • Light house cleaning

  • Laundry

Some families utilize all my offerings, some don’t. Some of these practices may work for you, some may seem foreign but maybe you’ll want to learn.  It’s up to you to decide what you want this time to be like for you. I make an effort to involve partners and family, if they are present, in ways and practices that they can best support you so that you can began to build on your inner circle and feel grounded in yourself and your new role as a mother.

*** I do my best to shop local, organic and responsibly sourced. Most meals are dairy free, gluten free and tailored to your body and healing.
